YOU WANT TO EMCEE OUR OPEN-MIC?
WHAT ARE EXPECTATIONS OF AN EMCEE
We are always seeking fresh dynamic leadership, as emcees (or as event coordinators)
Fresh new Insight, leadership, enthusiasm and super talent to join us.
You are in for a great time, and so are the people who will show up to experience a delightful evening.
Your job is to look good behind the mic, introduce folks who want to perform, tell a couple jokes (if you can) and if you like to perform, put on a show too.
Your job is also to do your best to fill the room, invite as many of your friends as you possibly can - tell them how fun the event is.
NOTE: To become an emcee you should have attended at least one Saratoga's GOt Talent event
WHAT TIME SHOULD THE ANCHORS PLAN TO BE THERE at the event?
We will plan to meet half hour before the event
Depending on how many anchors we have - we will break up the anchor time to give everyone equal opportunity or the anchors may decide to run this jointly.
Lead emcees will introduce each of the anchors before they take over their specific segment.
We will start setting up the sound system and run the mic-test, half hour before the event
If a parent is available at 7pm towards the setup that will be very much appreciated.
We will likely have a couple volunteer team towards the setup and sound board management, but we typically find out a couple days before the event.
HOW SHOULD THE ANCHORS INTRODUCE THE ACTS?
Emcees can go in sequence or together in stage. Totally your choice.
You will start your segment by saying
WELCOME TO THE SARATOGA"S GOT TALENT. I am <NAME> your host for this segment.
Remember to introduce each act;
You can check with the performer on their name, where they go to school or where they work, and the details of the performance - prior to going on stage and announcing them.
And it is very important to thank them when they are done - compliment them on a fantastic performance
Once you are done with your segment - you will invite the lead emcees to come back and introduce the next anchor.
Once in a while, the lead emcees may jump in to introduce a close-friend / performer.
Depending on how many folks show up to perform, we will wrap between 9:30pm and 10:00pm
Appreciate a parent help with the wrap-up and dismantle too.
And plan on bringing a laptop with a CD/DVD ROM to play any music CDs that may be needed for the performance
The one thing you need to do: Bring your friends and family. You can certainly email your friends asking them to show up. But Emails are quickly forgotten - ask them face to face at school and commit them to show up.
We have seen the evening become an Emcees Dad's Night out - thank you to the Dads for joining in and cheering hard.
We would love to have a parent stay through the evening - and be there to guide your child.
If one of the dads can plan to take pictures during the evening that would be phenomenal (can be transferred to us via dropbox for posting to our FB page)
WHERE CAN THE EMCEES SEE THEIR VIDEOS?
Pictures and videos are posted to http://www.facebook.com/valleytalent usually the morning after the event.
Tag your friends, tag yourself and also ask your friends to hit LIKE on our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/valleytalent
If you have pictures or videos to share, you can share them on on our FB page as well.
PUBLICITY: EMCEES on the SARATOGA's GOT TALENT publicity flyer
- We like to have a total of 6 to 7 emcees in the team. We will create a flyer after we have all the emcees lined up, and we will print out flyers that you can perhaps hang in your school (with the permission of school staff)
- Each of you should plan to bring at least 3 friends ready to perform. So ask around in school and see who wants to come. You will need to do a little bit of "How fun it was". If you find reluctant performers, bring your friends to watch you. The more the merrier, right?
- We definitely like our emcees to perform (only if they wish). It is always nice to stand up there to tell a joke or two….if not a full fledged act.
You should also invite SHSTV (that is broadcast Friday mornings) from Saratoga High School team. Let them know that Saratoga's Got Talent is featured on the 1st and 3rd Friday at Blue Rock Shoot, and they can stop by during those days to capture the video. If they put the url saratogatalent.com during the video playback that would be awesome. Also invite a SARATOGA FALCON reporter to cover the event
